Crime Statistics for Chautauqua County, New York
In 2020, nearly 3,000 criminal reports were filed by the Sheriff’s Department of Chautauqua County. Of the crimes reported, more than 2500 were property-related offenses, while around 400 were cases involving crimes against persons. The bulk of the property crime cases involved instances of larceny-theft: over 1900 cases and burglary: 540 cases. Aggravated assaults led to the filing of more than 275 complaints in the violent crimes category.
